What is Structured Cabling?

Structured cabling is a standardized architecture and methodology for building telecommunications infrastructure. Unlike point-to-point cabling, structured systems use a hierarchical design with backbone (vertical) cabling connecting floors and horizontal cabling serving individual workstations. This approach enables easier moves, adds, and changes while supporting multiple applications over the same infrastructure.

TIA-568 Standards Explained

TIA-568 is the commercial building telecommunications cabling standard published by the Telecommunications Industry Association. It specifies cable types, distances, connectors, system topology, and testing requirements. TIA-568-C.2 covers balanced twisted-pair cabling, while TIA-568-C.3 addresses optical fiber. Compliance ensures interoperability, performance guarantees, and manufacturer warranty support.

Our Installation Process

  • Site Survey: We assess your facility, document existing infrastructure, and identify pathway requirements for cable routing.
  • System Design: Our engineers create detailed drawings specifying cable types, quantities, pathway methods, and termination locations.
  • Professional Installation: Certified technicians install cables following manufacturer specifications and TIA standards.
  • Testing & Certification: Every cable is tested using Fluke DSX CableAnalyzer with results documented in a permanent test report.
  • Documentation Package: You receive as-built drawings, cable schedules, test results, and warranty information.

Serving the High Desert Region

High Desert Cabling provides structured cabling installation services throughout Adelanto, Victorville, Hesperia, Apple Valley, and San Bernardino County. Our local presence means faster response times, familiarity with regional building codes, and relationships with High Desert general contractors and property managers. We understand the environmental considerations unique to the Mojave Desert climate, including temperature extremes and UV exposure for outdoor installations.
